Here are some photos of my finished zine and I am so pleased with it. I think it turned out really well and is exactly what I had in mind when designing it. I love the way that the pages show the clutter of some of the abandoned shops, but leave also give off an empty, blank feeling due to the lack of clutter. I'm proud of this zine and have enjoyed the project thoroughly from start to finish. I am now going to leave the zines under a weight overnight to help them to compress and stay shut.

Here is the print layout for my zine. I'm really excited to print it out and assemble it and see what it looks like. I included an introduction on the inside cover, briefly explaining about the brochure. On the inside rear cover I plan to sign it and mark the edition number. I am going to print the cover on card, as I think this will add the rigidity to the brochure that is necessary for it to hold its own weight without bending, and the inside sheets will be printed on plain paper. It will be printed on A4 paper, making the final zine A5 (minus crop margins), and I will binding it using the 3-hole-stitch method I previously mentioned. Time to print!

Here are some screenshots from Photoshop whilst I was adding colour to the image. I chose to use reds, that replicated the colour of the locked doors as I thought this added to the realism. I also chose to feature the main points of focus in both the pages in white, i.e. the chain and padlock on the door and the writing on the door sign. I added the title "The Ghosts of Castle Market' as I have always thought that the images of the abandoned market were always very eery and ghostly. I think the title of the zine adds to that spooky feel you receive when looking through it.

This screenshot is again from InDesign and shows the front cover of the zine. I haven't yet added colour or a title to it, as this is my next step.

Here's a screenshot of one of the spreads in InDesign. This is the colour version I did initially before placing my traced images in in their place.

Once I had finished tracing my images I folded them into a booklet shape, so that I could get an understanding for how it would work as a book, and how it would flow.

Here are the drawings I made from my images, and I think they are really nice. They evoke a feeling of emptiness and show how stuff has just been dumped within the market to be left there. I think they are quite eerie and ghostlike, and in some cases are a little bit creepy. I will add colour to the front and rear colour of the booklet in Photoshop as well as adding a title to the zine.

To trace my images I improvised my own lightbox by placing a lamp underneath my glass dining room table. This allowed me to trace over the images with ease and make some really nice drawings from them.

These are the images that I have chosen to use for my zine. I have chosen them because they show a wide array of the abandoned areas of the market; some of them focus on the open areas that are closed, and others look at some of the areas in further detail, showing things found in the closed shops. I have printed these images out in A5 so that I can trace them on a light box and then scan them in to make my zine on InDesign.
